Related Product Information for anti-COL25A1 antibody
Collagen XXV a1 (COL25A1), also known as CLAC-P and AMY, is an 80kD member of the transmembrane (TM) collagen family. It is type II TM hydroxylated glycoprotein that is expressed by neurons. Proteolytic cleavage generates 70kD monomers that either dimerizIgG2Be or trimerize, and bind to fibrillar amyloid b-peptide. Human COL25A1 is 654aa in length. It has a 600aa extracellular domain (aa55-654) that contains seven collagen-like regions and is cleaved by furin between Arg112 and Glu113. Multiple splice forms may exist. One shows a 5aa substitution for (aa441-654), while a second shows a 2aa substitution for (aa616-654). Three other isoforms show splicing over aa165-245 accompanied by complex splicing at the C-terminus. Over (aa189-654), human COL25A1 is 95% aa identical to mouse COL25A1.

NCBI Description
This gene encodes a brain-specific membrane associated collagen. A product of proteolytic processing of the encoded protein, CLAC (collagenous Alzheimer amyloid plaque component), binds to amyloid beta-peptides found in Alzheimer amyloid plaques but CLAC inhibits rather than facilitates amyloid fibril elongation (PMID: 16300410). A study of over-expression of this collagen in mice, however, found changes in pathology and behavior suggesting that the encoded protein may promote amyloid plaque formation (PMID: 19548013). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
Uniprot Description
COL25A1: Inhibits fibrillization of beta amyloid peptide during the elongation phase. Has also been shown to assemble amyloid fibrils into protease-resistant aggregates. Binds heparin. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes
The COL25A1 col25a1 (Catalog #
AAA6004272) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Collagen Type XXV, alpha 1 (COL25A1, CLAC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Collagen Type XXV, alpha 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Direct ELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 25ug/ml Optimal dilutionss to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COL25A1 col25a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of
"Collagen Type XXV, alpha 1, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of
the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always
suggest centrifuging these vials
to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to
opening. Please be advised that
certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an
additional dry ice fee may also be
required.
