The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the cyclin-dependent serine/threonine protein kinase family. Members of this family are well known for their essential roles as master switches in cell cycle control. The exact function of this protein has not yet been determined, but it may play a role in mRNA processing and may be involved in regulation of hematopoiesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the cyclin-dependent serine/threonine protein kinase family. Members of this family are well known for their essential roles as master switches in cell cycle control. The exact function of this protein has not yet been determined, but it may play a role in mRNA processing and may be involved in regulation of hematopoiesis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009]

Uniprot Description

CDK13: a CMGC protein kinase of the CDK family. It has been reported to interact with L-type cyclins. Overexpression of CDC2L5 constructs disturbs constitutive splicing and switches alternative splice site selection in vivo suggesting that it may regulate alternative splicing. It has unusually large N- and C-termini and is ubiquitously expressed in many tissues. Two alternatively spliced human isoforms have been described.

Protein type: RNA splicing; EC 2.7.11.22; Protein kinase, CMGC; Kinase, protein; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); EC 2.7.11.23; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cell cycle regulation; CMGC group; CDK family; CRK7 subfamily; CDK/CRK7 subfamily

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7p13

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; Golgi apparatus; extracellular space; nuclear cyclin-dependent protein kinase holoenzyme complex; cytoplasm; nuclear speck

Molecular Function: RNA polymerase subunit kinase activity; cyclin binding; protein binding; cyclin-dependent protein kinase activity; ATP binding; protein kinase activity

Biological Process: alternative nuclear mRNA splicing, via spliceosome; viral reproduction; multicellular organismal development; positive regulation of cell proliferation; regulation of mitosis; hemopoiesis

Product Notes

The CDK13 cdk13 (Catalog #AAA633608) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Cdc2L5 (Cell Division Cycle 2-like 5, Cell Division Cycle 2-like Protein Kinase 5, CDC2-related Protein Kinase 5, CDC2L, CHED, Cholinesterase-related Cell Division Controller) (Azide Free) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Cdc2L5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF). Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunofluorescence and Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 ELISA: 3ng/ml-1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDK13 cdk13 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Cdc2L5, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
