Related Product Information for anti-CD6 antibody
Mouse anti Human CD6 antibody, clone MEM-98 recognizes human CD6, also known as T12 or TP120. CD6 is a ~100-130kDa type 1 single pass trans-membrane protein member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. CD6 possesses 3 scavenger receptor cysteine rich (SRCR) domains in it's extracellular sequence. The membrane proximal SRCR3 contains the epitope responsible for interaction with CD166, also known as Activated Leukocyte Cell Adhesion Molecule (ALCAM) or CD166. Multiple gene transcripts have been detected encoding CD6 in man resulting in the production of a number of CD6 isoforms. Mouse anti human CD6, clone MEM-98 recognizes an external epitope located in the membrane-distal SRCR domain 1 and is expected to recognize all CD6 isoforms so far identified, CD6A-E. CD6 has been implicated as a therapeutic target for a number of autoimmune conditions (Pinto et al. 2013) including Sj¶gren's syndrome (Ramos-Casals et al. 2001), rheumatoid arthritis (Rodriguez et al.) and psoriasis (Wilsmann-Theis et al. 2006).

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein found on the outer membrane of T-lymphocytes as well as some other immune cells. The encoded protein contains three scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) domains and a binding site for an activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule. The gene product is important for continuation of T cell activation. This gene may be associated with susceptibility to multiple sclerosis (PMID: 19525953, 21849685). Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Uniprot Description

CD6: a type I membrane protein involved in cell adhesion. Binds to CD166. Expressed on thymocytes, peripheral T cells, a subset of B cells, and a subset of neurons. Mediates the binding of developing thymocytes with thymic epithelial cells. CD6- T cells are less autoreactive than CD6+ T cells. Phosphorylated on tyrosines and serines following T cell antigen receptor signaling. Five splice-variant isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Cell surface; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q13

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; scavenger receptor activity

Biological Process: receptor-mediated endocytosis; cell adhesion

Product Notes

The CD6 cd6 (Catalog #AAA210795) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's CD6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow cytometry (FC/FACS). Flow Cytometry: Use 10ul of the suggested working dilution to label 106 cells or 100ul whole blood Flow Cytometry: Maximum Dilution: Neat. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD6 cd6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD6, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
