Related Product Information for anti-CD57 antibody
Mouse anti Human CD57 antibody, clone TB01 recognizes CD57, also known as HNK-1, an oligosaccharide antigenic determinant present on a variety of polypeptides, lipids and chondroitin sulphate proteoglycans. Its function is poorly understood. CD57 is present on a subset of NK and T cells.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the glucuronyltransferase gene family. These enzymes exhibit strict acceptor specificity, recognizing nonreducing terminal sugars and their anomeric linkages. This gene product functions as the key enzyme in a glucuronyl transfer reaction during the biosynthesis of the carbohydrate epitope HNK-1 (human natural killer-1, also known as CD57 and LEU7). Alternate transcriptional splice variants have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

B3GAT1: Involved in the biosynthesis of L2/HNK-1 carbohydrate epitope on glycoproteins. Can also play a role in glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis. Substrates include asialo- orosomucoid (ASOR), asialo-fetuin, and asialo-neural cell adhesion molecule. Requires sphingomyelin for activity: stearoyl- sphingomyelin was the most effective, followed by palmitoyl- sphingomyelin and lignoceroyl-sphingomyelin. Activity was demonstrated only for sphingomyelin with a saturated fatty acid and not for that with an unsaturated fatty acid, regardless of the length of the acyl group. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 43 family.

Protein type: Glycan Metabolism - chondroitin sulfate biosynthesis; EC 2.4.1.135; Membrane protein, integral; Transferase; Glycan Metabolism - heparan sulfate biosynthesis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q25

Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: UDP-galactose:beta-N-acetylglucosamine beta-1,3-galactosyltransferase activity; metal ion binding; galactosylgalactosylxylosylprotein 3-beta-glucuronosyltransferase activity

Biological Process: chondroitin sulfate metabolic process; glycosaminoglycan metabolic process; carbohydrate metabolic process; protein amino acid glycosylation; pathogenesis

Product Notes

The CD57 b3gat1 (Catalog #AAA210651) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's CD57 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow cytometry (FC/FACS). Flow Cytometry: Use 10ul of the suggested working dilution to label 106 cells or 100ul whole blood Flow Cytometry: Maximum Dilution: Neat. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD57 b3gat1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD57, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
