Related Product Information for anti-CD56 antibody
CD56 is a single transmembrane glycoprotein also known as NCAM (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule), Leu-19, or NKH1. It is a member of the Ig superfamily. The 140 kD isoform is expressed on NK cells and NK-T cells. CD56 is also expressed in the brain (cerebellum and cortex) and at neuromuscular junctions. Certain large granular lymphocyte (LGL) leukemias, small-cell lung carcinomas, neuronal derived tumors, myelomas, and myeloid leukemias also express CD56. CD56 plays a role in homophilic and heterophilic adhesion via binding to itself or heparin sulfate.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a cell adhesion protein which is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. The encoded protein is involved in cell-to-cell interactions as well as cell-matrix interactions during development and differentiation. The encoded protein has been shown to be involved in development of the nervous system, and for cells involved in the expansion of T cells and dendritic cells which play an important role in immune surveillance. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2011]

Uniprot Description

NCAM1: This protein is a cell adhesion molecule involved in neuron-neuron adhesion, neurite fasciculation, outgrowth of neurites, etc. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor; Membrane protein, integral; Cell adhesion; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q23.1

Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; cell surface; membrane; integral to membrane; plasma membrane; external side of plasma membrane

Molecular Function: identical protein binding

Biological Process: axon guidance; extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; cell adhesion

Product Notes

The CD56 ncam1 (Catalog #AAA2559526) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Human CD56 Monoclonal Antibody (PerCP/Cyanine5.5 Conjugated) [HCD56] reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD56 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescent staining with flow cytometric analysis. The amount of the reagent is suggested to be used 2 muL or 5 muL of antibody per test (million cells in 100 ul staining volume or per 100 ul of whole blood). Please check your vial before the experiment. Since applications vary, the appropriate dilutions must be determined for individual use. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD56 ncam1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD56, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
