NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the class B seven-span transmembrane (TM7) subfamily of G-protein coupled receptors. These proteins are characterized by an extended extracellular region with a variable number of N-terminal epidermal growth factor-like domains coupled to a TM7 domain via a mucin-like spacer domain. The encoded protein is expressed mainly in myeloid cells where it promotes cell-cell adhesion through interaction with chondroitin sulfate chains. This gene is situated in a cluster of related genes on chromosome 19. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]

Uniprot Description

EMR2: Cell surface receptor that binds to the chondroitin sulfate moiety of glycosaminoglycan chains and promotes cell attachment. Promotes granulocyte chemotaxis, degranulation and adhesion. In macrophages, promotes the release of inflammatory cytokines, including IL8 and TNF. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 2 family. LN-TM7 subfamily. 5 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Receptor, GPCR; GPCR, family 2; Membrane protein, multi-pass

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.1

Cellular Component: integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: G-protein coupled receptor activity; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; cell migration; cell adhesion; inflammatory response

Product Notes

The CD312 emr2 (Catalog #AAA6268450) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CD312 (EMR2, Epidermal Growth Factor-Like Module-Containing Mucin-Like Receptor 2, Epidermal Growth Factor Seven Transmembrane, EGF-TM7) (APC) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD312 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD312 emr2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD312, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
