Preparation and Storage
This product is shipped at ambient temperature. It is recommended to aliquot and store at -20 degree C on receipt. When thawed, aliquot the sample as needed. Keep aliquots at 2-8 degree C for short term use (up to 4 weeks) and store the remaining aliquots at -20 degree C.

Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.

Related Product Information for anti-CD258 antibody
Mouse anti Human CD258 antibody, clone D04-8A4, recognizes CD258 also known as TNFSF14, Herpes virus entry mediator and LIGHT. CD258 is the ligand of the receptor TNFRSF14, which is the cell surface receptor that the Herpes virus uses to attach to the cell surface and to enter into the cell, it is also a ligand of lymphotoxin-beta receptor (Ware & Sedý 2011). Signaling events initiated upon binding of CD258 to these receptors is cell dependent. However, the responses are often related to immune system stimulation including the production of various cytokines, adhesion molecules that control the migration and positioning of dendritic cells and lymphocytes (Skeate et al. 2020, Tang et al. 2016).

CD258 is primarily expressed by activated T cells, activated natural killer cells and immature dentritic cells. It is initially synthesized as a type II transmembrane protein, which can be proteolytically cleaved to release a soluble bioactive form (Ware & Sedý 2011).

The purified Mouse anti Human CD258 antibody, clone D04-8A4 can be used as a capture antibody in a sandwich ELISA with the biotinylated Mouse anti Human CD258 antibody, clone B01-9B3 as the detection antibody.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This protein is a ligand for TNFRSF14, which is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, and which is also known as a herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM). This protein may function as a costimulatory factor for the activation of lymphoid cells and as a deterrent to infection by herpesvirus. This protein has been shown to stimulate the proliferation of T cells, and trigger apoptosis of various tumor cells. This protein is also reported to prevent tumor necrosis factor alpha mediated apoptosis in primary hepatocyte. Two alternatively spliced transcript variant encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TNFSF14: Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF3/LTBR. Binding to the decoy receptor TNFRSF6B modulates its effects. Activates NFKB, stimulates the proliferation of T-cells, and inhibits growth of the adenocarcinoma HT-29. Acts as a receptor for Herpes simplex virus. Belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cytokine; Inhibitor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.3

Cellular Component: extracellular space; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; caspase inhibitor activity; cytokine activity; tumor necrosis factor receptor binding; receptor binding

Biological Process: release of cytoplasmic sequestered NF-kappaB; T cell proliferation; T cell activation; apoptosis; T cell costimulation; T cell homeostasis; immune response; negative regulation of caspase activity; signal transduction; positive regulation of myoblast differentiation

Product Notes

The CD258 tnfsf14 (Catalog #AAA226109) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse anti Human CD258 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's CD258 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). ELISA: 1.0ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD258 tnfsf14 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD258, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
