Related Product Information for anti-CD14 antibody
Introduction: CD14 (also known lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor) is expressed strongly on monocytes and macrophage and weakly on the surface of neutrophils. CD14 is anchored to cells by linkage to glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) and functions as a high affinity receptor for complexes of LPS and LPS binding protein (LBP). Soluble CD14, also binding to LPS, acts at physiological concentration as an LPS agonist and has, at higher concentrations, an LPS antagonizing effect in cell activation. CD14 has been shown to bind apoptotic cells.

NCBI Description

The encoded protein is a subunit of the hydrophobic protein fraction of the NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex 1), the first enzyme complex in the electron transport chain located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, and may be involved in regulating complex I activity or its assembly via assistance in redox processes. Mutations in this gene are associated with Leigh syndrome, an early-onset progressive neurodegenerative disorder. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.[provided by RefSeq, May 2010]

Uniprot Description

NDUFA2: Accessory subunit of the mitochondrial membrane respiratory chain NADH dehydrogenase (Complex I), that is believed not to be involved in catalysis. Complex I functions in the transfer of electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. The immediate electron acceptor for the enzyme is believed to be ubiquinone.

Protein type: Mitochondrial; EC 1.6.5.3; EC 1.6.99.3; Energy Metabolism - oxidative phosphorylation; Oxidoreductase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 5q31.2

Cellular Component: mitochondrial inner membrane; mitochondrial membrane; mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I

Molecular Function: NADH dehydrogenase (ubiquinone) activity

Biological Process: cellular metabolic process; mitochondrial electron transport, NADH to ubiquinone

Disease: Leigh Syndrome

Product Notes

The CD14 ndufa2 (Catalog #AAA140132) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD14, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
