Related Product Information for anti-Abeta antibody
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most prevalent neurodegenerative disease in the growing population of elderly people. It is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive dementia, loss of cognitive abilities, and deposition of fibrillar amyloid proteins as intra-neuronal neurofibrillary tangles, extracellular amyloid plaques and vascular amyloid deposits. The major constituent of these plaques are aggregates of the neurotoxic amyloid-beta (Abeta or Abeta) peptide. This 36-43 amino acid peptide is derived proteolytically from the transmembrane amyloid precursor protein (APP) by sequential secretase processing.

Although the normal function of Abeta is not well understood, several potential activities have been discovered including activation of kinase enzymes, protection against oxidative stress, regulation of cholesterol transport, and anti-microbial activity (potentially associated with Abeta's pro inflammatory activity).

Product Notes

The Abeta (Catalog #AAA520705) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Human Abeta (aa 17-24), Biotin (clone: 3B7) (Mouse IgG1) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Abeta can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). This antibody is suitable for use in ELISA (recommended dilution: 1:64K - 1:128K). This antibody has not been tested in other applications. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Abeta for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Abeta, Monoclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
