Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of AVP. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between AVP and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between AVP and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.

Serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate
Assay Type
Quantitative Competitive
Sensitivity
0.1 ng/mL
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.
The stability of kit is determined by the loss rate of activity. The loss rate of this kit is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

Intended Uses: This AVP ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Monkey AVP. This ELISA kit for research use only, not for therapeutic or test applications!

Principle of the Assay: AVP ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing an anti-AVP antibody and an AVP-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with AVP-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the AVP concentration since AVP from samples and AVP-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-AVP antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by AVP from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind AVP-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The AVP concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the vasopressin/oxytocin family and preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate multiple protein products. These products include the neuropeptide hormone arginine vasopressin, and two other peptides, neurophysin 2 and copeptin. Arginine vasopressin is a posterior pituitary hormone that is synthesized in the supraoptic nucleus and paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus. Along with its carrier protein, neurophysin 2, it is packaged into neurosecretory vesicles and transported axonally to the nerve endings in the neurohypophysis where it is either stored or secreted into the bloodstream. The precursor is thought to be activated while it is being transported along the axon to the posterior pituitary. Arginine vasopressin acts as a growth factor by enhancing pH regulation through acid-base transport systems. It has a direct antidiuretic action on the kidney, and also causes vasoconstriction of the peripheral vessels. This hormone can contract smooth muscle during parturition and lactation. It is also involved in cognition, tolerance, adaptation and complex sexual and maternal behaviour, as well as in the regulation of water excretion and cardiovascular functions. Mutations in this gene cause autosomal dominant neurohypophyseal diabetes insipidus (ADNDI). This gene is present in a gene cluster with the related gene oxytocin on chromosome 20. Uniprot Description

Neurophysin 2 specifically binds vasopressin.Vasopressin has a direct antidiuretic action on the kidney, it also causes vasoconstriction of the peripheral vessels. Acts by binding to vasopressin receptors (V1bR/AVPR1B, V1aR/AVPR1A, and V2R/AVPR2) (PubMed:18174156).

Product Notes

The Monkey AVP avp (Catalog #AAA7262368) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7262368 ELISA Kit recognizes Monkey AVP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Arginine-Vasopressin, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
