Directions for Use
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. Do not mix by vortex or pipetting. It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 mug/ml. Dissolve the lyophilized protein in 1X PBS. Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
Preparation and Storage
Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20 degree C, though stable at room temperature for 3 weeks. Reconstituted protein solution can be stored at 2-8 degree C for 2-7 days. Aliquots of reconstituted samples are stable at -20 degree C for 3 months.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the peptidase M10 family of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Proteins in this family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. The encoded preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate the mature protease. This protease degrades soluble and insoluble elastin. This gene may play a role in aneurysm formation and mutations in this gene are associated with lung function and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes on chromosome 11. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2016]

Uniprot Description

MMP12: May be involved in tissue injury and remodeling. Has significant elastolytic activity. Can accept large and small amino acids at the P1' site, but has a preference for leucine. Aromatic or hydrophobic residues are preferred at the P1 site, with small hydrophobic residues (preferably alanine) occupying P3. Belongs to the peptidase M10A family.

Protein type: EC 3.4.24.65; Protease; Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q22.3

Cellular Component: extracellular region

Molecular Function: endopeptidase activity; metalloendopeptidase activity; serine-type endopeptidase activity

Biological Process: collagen catabolic process; extracellular matrix disassembly; positive regulation of epithelial cell proliferation involved in wound healing; wound healing, spreading of epidermal cells

Product Notes

The MMP12 mmp12 (Catalog #AAA8249455) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Recombinant Human MMP12 Protein reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's MMP12 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA),Western Blot (WB), SDS-PAGE, Mass Spectrometry (MS). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MMP12 mmp12 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: LPLNSSTSLE KNNVLFGERY LEKFYGLEIN KLPVTKMKYS GNLMKEKIQE MQHFLGLKVT GQLDTSTLEM MHAPRCGVPD VHHFREMPGG PVWRKHYITY RINNYTPDMN REDVDYAIRK AFQVWSNVTP LKFSKINTGM ADILVVFARG AHGDFHAFDG KGGILAHAFG PGSGIGGDAH FDEDEFWTTH SGGTNLFLTA VHEIGHSLGL GHSSDPKAVM FPTYKYVDIN TFRLSADDIR GIQSLYGDPK ENQRLPNPDN SEPALCDPNL SFDAVTTVGN KIFFFKDRFF WLKVSERPKT SVNLISSLWP TLPSGIEAAY EIEARNQVFL FKDDKYWLIS NLRPEPNYPK SIHSFGFPNF VKKIDAAVFN PRFYRTYFFV DNQYWRYDER RQMMDPGYPK LITKNFQGIG PKIDAVFYSK NKYYYFFQGS NQFEYDFLLQ RITKTLKSNS WFGCVDHHHH HH. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MMP12, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
