MAZ: a myc-associated zinc finger protein. An inflammation-responsive transcription factor with dual roles in transcription initiation and termination. Binds to two sites within the c-myc promoter. Also binds to multiple G/C-rich sites within the promoter of the SP1 family of transcription factors. Expressed in heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle and pancreas.
