Related Product Information for LRP1 elisa kit
Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for LRP-1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any LRP-1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LRP-1 is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LRP-1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is an endocytic receptor involved in several cellular processes, including intracellular signaling, lipid homeostasis, and clearance of apoptotic cells. In addition, the encoded protein is necessary for the A2M-mediated clearance of secreted amyloid precursor protein and beta-amyloid, the main component of amyloid plaques found in Alzheimer patients. Expression of this gene decreases with age and has been found to be lower than controls in brain tissue from Alzheimer patients. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]

Uniprot Description

Function: Endocytic receptor involved in endocytosis and in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Required for early embryonic development. Involved in cellular lipid homeostasis. Involved in the plasma clearance of chylomicron remnants and activated LRPAP1 (alpha 2-macroglobulin), as well as the local metabolism of complexes between plasminogen activators and their endogenous inhibitors. May modulate cellular events, such as APP metabolism, kinase-dependent intracellular signaling, neuronal calcium signaling as well as neurotransmission.5 PublicationsManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.10

Product Notes

The Human LRP1 lrp1 (Catalog #AAA702996) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA702996 ELISA Kit recognizes Human LRP1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "low density lipoprotein-related protein 1 (alpha-2-macroglobulin receptor), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
