Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for LDHA has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any LDHA present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LDHA is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LDHA bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the conversion of L-lactate and NAD to pyruvate and NADH in the final step of anaerobic glycolysis. The protein is found predominantly in muscle tissue and belongs to the lactate dehydrogenase family. Mutations in this gene have been linked to exertional myoglobinuria. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. The human genome contains several non-transcribed pseudogenes of this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2008]

Product Notes

The Human LDHA ldha (Catalog #AAA913194) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA913194 ELISA Kit recognizes Human LDHA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "lactate dehydrogenase A, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
