Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate KCNJ2 in samples. An antibody specific for KCNJ2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyKCNJ2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for KCNJ2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of KCNJ2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Uniprot Description

Probably participates in establishing action potential waveform and excitability of neuronal and muscle tissues. Inward rectifier potassium channels are characterized by a greater tendency to allow potassium to flow into the cell rather than out of it. Their voltage dependence is regulated by the concentration of extracellular potassium; as external potassium is raised, the voltage range of the channel opening shifts to more positive voltages. The inward rectification is mainly due to the blockage of outward current by internal magnesium. Can be blocked by extracellular barium and cesium.

Product Notes

The Rabbit KCNJ2 kcnj2 (Catalog #AAA283779) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA283779 ELISA Kit recognizes Rabbit KCNJ2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Inward rectifier potassium channel 2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
