Background: KAT8 (Lysine Acetyltransferase 8), also called as MYST1 or HMOF, is a histone acetyltransferase which may be involved in transcriptional activation. It may influence the function of ATM. As part of the MSL complex it is involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 producing specifically H4K16ac. As part of the NSL complex it may be involved in acetylation of nucleosomal histone H4 on several lysine residues. That activity is less specific than the one of the MSL complex. KAT8 can also acetylate TP53/p53 at 'Lys-120'. Diseases associated with KAT8 include Atrial Septal Defect 4. Among its related pathways are Chromatin Regulation/Acetylation and Chromatin organization.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the MYST histone acetylase protein family. The encoded protein has a characteristic MYST domain containing an acetyl-CoA-binding site, a chromodomain typical of proteins which bind histones, and a C2HC-type zinc finger. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]

Product Notes
The KAT8/MYST1 (Catalog #AAA389274) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Baculovirus and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "KAT8/MYST1, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
