Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the competitive inhibition enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with goat-anti-rabbit antibody. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with an antibody specific for INH-A and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated INH-A. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP labeled INH-A and unlabeled INH-A with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of INH-A in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Uniprot Description

Function: Inhibins and activins inhibit and activate, respectively, the secretion of follitropin by the pituitary gland. Inhibins/activins are involved in regulating a number of diverse functions such as hypothalamic and pituitary hormone secretion, gonadal hormone secretion, germ cell development and maturation, erythroid differentiation, insulin secretion, nerve cell survival, embryonic axial development or bone growth, depending on their subunit composition. Inhibins appear to oppose the functions of activins. Inhibin deficient mice are viable but are acutely sensitive to development of gonadal sex-cord stromal tumors.3 PublicationsManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.6

Product Notes

The Mouse INHA inha (Catalog #AAA704662) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA704662 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse INHA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "inhibin, alpha, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
