Related Product Information for IL-6RA recombinant protein
Interleukin 6 is a potent pleiotropic cytokine that regulates cell growth and differentiation and plays an important role in the immune response. IL6Ra is a part of the receptor for interleukin 6 cytokine. IL6Ra binds to IL6 with low affinity, but does not transduce a signal. Signal activation necessitates an association with IL6ST. Activation may lead to the regulation of the immune response, acute-phase reactions and hematopoiesis. Low concentration of a soluble form of IL6 receptor acts as an agonist of IL6 activity. Dysregulated production of IL6 and this receptor are implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases, such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune diseases and prostate cancer.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a subunit of the interleukin 6 (IL6) receptor complex. Interleukin 6 is a potent pleiotropic cytokine that regulates cell growth and differentiation and plays an important role in the immune response. The IL6 receptor is a protein complex consisting of this protein and interleukin 6 signal transducer (IL6ST/GP130/IL6-beta), a receptor subunit also shared by many other cytokines. Dysregulated production of IL6 and this receptor are implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases, such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune diseases and prostate cancer. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 9.[provided by RefSeq, May 2011]

Uniprot Description

IL6R: Part of the receptor for interleukin 6. Binds to IL6 with low affinity, but does not transduce a signal. Signal activation necessitate an association with IL6ST. Activation may lead to the regulation of the immune response, acute-phase reactions and hematopoiesis. Belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family. Type 3 subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The IL-6RA il6r (Catalog #AAA2569200) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Leu20-Pro3 65. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL-6RA, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
