NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the apolipoprotein C1 family. This gene is expressed primarily in the liver, and it is activated when monocytes differentiate into macrophages. The encoded protein plays a central role in high density lipoprotein (HDL) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) metabolism. This protein has also been shown to inhibit cholesteryl ester transfer protein in plasma. A pseudogene of this gene is located 4 kb downstream in the same orientation, on the same chromosome. This gene is mapped to chromosome 19, where it resides within a apolipoprotein gene cluster. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2016]

Uniprot Description

APOC1: Appears to modulate the interaction of APOE with beta- migrating VLDL and inhibit binding of beta-VLDL to the LDL receptor-related protein. Binds free fatty acids and reduces their intracellular esterification. Belongs to the apolipoprotein C1 family.

Product Notes

The APOC1 apoc1 (Catalog #AAA568871) is an Antigen produced from Human Plasma and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Apolipoprotein CI can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunogen Grade. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the APOC1 apoc1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Apolipoprotein CI, Antigen" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
