NCBI Description

This gene encodes an enzyme belonging to the protein tyrosine kinase family, and it plays a role in T-cell development and lymphocyte activation. This enzyme, which is phosphorylated on tyrosine residues upon T-cell antigen receptor (TCR) stimulation, functions in the initial step of TCR-mediated signal transduction in combination with the Src family kinases, Lck and Fyn. This enzyme is also essential for thymocyte development. Mutations in this gene cause selective T-cell defect, a severe combined immunodeficiency disease characterized by a selective absence of CD8-positive T-cells. Two transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ZAP70: a tyrosine kinase of the Syk family. Plays an essential role in regulation of the adaptive immune response. Phosphorylates two essential T cell adapter proteins: the linker for activation of T-cells (LAT) protein and LCP2. Regulates lymphocyte activation, motility, adhesion and cytokine expression of mature T-cells. Promotes survival and cell-cycle progression of developing double-negative thymocytes before positive selection. Associates with the T-cell antigen receptor (TCR) zeta-chain and is phosphorylated by Lck following antigen receptor activation. Required for internalization and degradation of the TCR complex through interaction with the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase CBL and adapter proteins SLA and SLA2. Three alternatively spliced isoforms of the human protein have been described.

Product Notes

The Human, Mouse ZAP-70 zap70 (Catalog #AAA9501175) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9501175 ELISA Kit recognizes Human, Mouse ZAP-70. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "ZAP-70, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
