Related Product Information for C1qb active protein
CD40 belongs to the TNF-receptor superfamily and is essential in mediating a broad variety of immune and inflammatory responses including T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching, memory B cell development and germinal center formation. The interaction of CD40-CD40L is necessary for amyloid-beta-induced microglial activation, and thus is thought to be an early event in Alzheimer disease pathogenesis. CD40 is constitutively expressed by antigen presenting cells, including dendritic cells, B cells and macrophages. Consistent with its widespread expression on normal cells, CD40 is also expressed on a wide range of tumor cells, including non-Hodgkin's and Hodgkin's lymphomas, myeloma and some carcinomas including nasopharynx, bladder, cervix, kidney and ovary.

Uniprot Description

C1QB: C1q associates with the proenzymes C1r and C1s to yield C1, the first component of the serum complement system. The collagen-like regions of C1q interact with the Ca(2+)-dependent C1r(2)C1s(2) proenzyme complex, and efficient activation of C1 takes place on interaction of the globular heads of C1q with the Fc regions of IgG or IgM antibody present in immune complexes. Defects in C1QB are a cause of complement component C1q deficiency (C1QD). A rare defect resulting in C1 deficiency and impaired activation of the complement classical pathway. C1 deficiency generally leads to severe immune complex disease with features of systemic lupus erythematosus and glomerulonephritis.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide

Cellular Component: collagen; extracellular region; complement component C1 complex

Molecular Function: protein homodimerization activity

Biological Process: immune system process; innate immune response; inner ear development; complement activation, classical pathway

Product Notes

The C1qb c1qb (Catalog #AAA636995) is an Active Protein produced from Human, HEK 293 cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: The Fc portion of human IgG1 is fused to the C-terminus of human CD40 (aa 21-193). It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD40:Fc, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
