Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Stromelysin-1 (also known as ST1) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human ST1 antibody. ST1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human ST1 Antibody is added and binds to ST1 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated ST1 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human ST1. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. This gene encodes an enzyme which degrades fibronectin, laminin, collagens III, IV, IX, and X, and cartilage proteoglycans. The enzyme is thought to be involved in wound repair, progression of atherosclerosis, and tumor initiation. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Can degrade fibronectin, laminin, gelatins of type I, III, IV, and V; collagens III, IV, X, and IX, and cartilage proteoglycans. Activates procollagenase.

Product Notes

The Human ST1 mmp3 (Catalog #AAA160700) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA160700 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ST1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Stromelysin-1, ST1, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
