Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for SEMG1 elisa kit
Description: This Human Semenogelin-1 (SEMG1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate SEMG1 in samples. An antibody specific for SEMG1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any SEMG1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for SEMG1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of SEMG1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Semenogelin I is the predominant protein in semen. The encoded secreted protein is involved in the formation of a gel matrix that encases ejaculated spermatozoa. The prostate-specific antigen (PSA) protease processes this protein into smaller peptides, with each possibly having a separate function. The proteolysis process breaks down the gel matrix and allows the spermatozoa to move more freely. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.An open reading frame of 1,386 nucleotides encoded a signal peptide and a mature protein of 439 amino acid residues, in which residues 85 to 136 were identical with a previously characterized semenogelin fragment. An abundant seminal vesicular mRNA transcript of 1.8 kb codes for semenogelin.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is the predominant protein in semen. The encoded secreted protein is involved in the formation of a gel matrix that encases ejaculated spermatozoa. This preproprotein is proteolytically processed by the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) protease to generate multiple peptide products that exhibit distinct functions. One of these peptides, SgI-29, is an antimicrobial peptide with antibacterial activity. This proteolysis process also breaks down the gel matrix and allows the spermatozoa to move more freely. This gene and another similar semenogelin gene are present in a gene cluster on chromosome 20. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2016]

Uniprot Description

SEMG1: Predominant protein in semen. It participates in the formation of a gel matrix entrapping the accessory gland secretions and ejaculated spermatozoa. Fragments of semenogelin and/or fragments of the related proteins may contribute to the activation of progressive sperm movements as the gel-forming proteins are fragmented by KLK3/PSA. Belongs to the semenogelin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Human SEMG1 semg1 (Catalog #AAA9714375) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9714375 ELISA Kit recognizes Human SEMG1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Semenogelin-1 (SEMG1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
