Principle of the Assay: Human Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Type IVA 1 (PTP4A1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PTP4A1 in samples. An antibody specific for PTP4A1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any PTP4A1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, HRP-Conjugated Human PTP4A1 detection antibody is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound HRP reagent, a Chromogen solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PTP4A1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.!!Background/Introduction: Protein tyrosine phosphatase type IVA 1 is an enzyme belongs to a small class of prenylated protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs), which contains a PTP domain and a characteristic C-terminal prenylation motif. PTPs are cell signaling molecules that play regulatory roles in a variety of cellular processes. This tyrosine phosphatase is a nuclear protein, but may primarily associate with plasma membrane. The surface membrane association of this protein depends on its C-terminal prenylation. Overexpression of this gene in mammalian cells conferred a transformed phenotype, which implicated its role in the tumorigenesis.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of a small class of prenylated protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs), which contain a PTP domain and a characteristic C-terminal prenylation motif. The encoded protein is a cell signaling molecule that plays regulatory roles in a variety of cellular processes, including cell proliferation and migration. The protein may also be involved in cancer development and metastasis. This tyrosine phosphatase is a nuclear protein, but may associate with plasma membrane by means of its prenylation motif. Pseudogenes related to this gene are located on chromosomes 1, 2, 5, 7, 11 and X. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2013]

Uniprot Description

PTP4A1: Protein tyrosine phosphatase which stimulates progression from G1 into S phase during mitosis. May play a role in the development and maintenance of differentiating epithelial tissues. Enhances cell proliferation, cell motility and invasive activity, and promotes cancer metastasis. Belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family.

Protein type: EC 3.1.3.48; Protein phosphatase, tyrosine (non-receptor); Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 6q12

Cellular Component: internal side of plasma membrane; endoplasmic reticulum; early endosome; cytoplasm; spindle

Molecular Function: protein tyrosine phosphatase activity

Biological Process: multicellular organismal development; cell cycle; positive regulation of cell migration

Product Notes

The Human PTP4A1 ptp4a1 (Catalog #AAA9714722) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9714722 ELISA Kit recognizes Human PTP4A1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Type IVA 1 (PTP4A1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
