Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Human Peroxiredoxin 3 (also known as PRDX3) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, Ascites, tissue homogenates or other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Human PRDX3 antibody. PRDX3 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Human PRDX3 Antibody is added and binds to PRDX3 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated PRDX3 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Human PRDX3. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a mitochondrial protein with antioxidant function. The protein is similar to the C22 subunit of Salmonella typhimurium alkylhydroperoxide reductase, and it can rescue bacterial resistance to alkylhydroperoxide in E. coli that lack the C22 subunit. The human and mouse genes are highly conserved, and they map to the regions syntenic between mouse and human chromosomes. Sequence comparisons with recently cloned mammalian homologs suggest that these genes consist of a family that is responsible for the regulation of cellular proliferation, differentiation and antioxidant functions. This family member can protect cells from oxidative stress, and it can promote cell survival in prostate cancer. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants.
