Usage Notes
* Do not mix components from different kit lots or use reagents beyond the kit expiration date.
* Allow all reagents to warm to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before opening.
* Pre-rinse the pipet tip with reagent, use fresh pipet tips for each sample, standard and reagent to avoid contamination.
* Unused wells must be kept desiccated at 4 degree C in the sealed bag provided.
* Mix Thoroughly is very important for the result. It is recommended using low frequency oscillator or slight hand shaking every 10 minutes.
* It is recommended that all samples and standards be assayed in duplicate or triplicate.
Preparation and Storage
Store at 2-8 degree C.

Related Product Information for MAP-2 elisa kit
Description: This Human Microtubule-associated protein 2 (MAP-2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MAP2 in samples. An antibody specific for MAP2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any MAP2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MAP2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MAP2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Background: Microtubule-associated protein 2 is a protein that belongs to the microtubule-associated protein family. The proteins of this family are thought to be involved in microtubule assembly, which is an essential step in neurogenesis.MAP2 serves to stabilize microtubules (MT) growth by crosslinking MT with intermediate filaments and other MT. The products of similar genes in rat and mouse are neuron-specific cytoskeletal proteins that are enriched in dendrites, implicating a role in determining and stabilizing dentritic shape during neuron development. A number of alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct isforms have been described.

Uniprot Description

MAP2: a member of the microtubule-associated protein (MAP) family. Its exact function is unknown but MAPs appear to stabilize the microtubules against depolymerization. They also seem to have a stiffening effect on microtubules. Expressed at high levels in neural tissue and the prostate. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported.

Product Notes

The Human MAP-2 map2 (Catalog #AAA9715403) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9715403 ELISA Kit recognizes Human MAP-2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Microtubule-Associated Protein 2 (MAP-2), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
