Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Human MBP/MBL. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human MBP/MBL and analogues was observed. Note: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross- reactivity detection between Human MBP/MBL and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist.

Related Product Information for MBP/MBL elisa kit
Description: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of MBP/MBL in human serum, plasma and other biological fluids
Principle of the Assay: This ELISA kit uses Sandwich-ELISA as the method. The micro ELISA plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Human MBP/MBL. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate micro ELISA plate wells and bound by the specific antibody. Then a biotinylated detection antibody specific for Human MBP/MBL and Avidin-Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugate is added to each micro plate well successively and incubated. Free components are washed away. The substrate solution is added to each well. Only those wells that contain Human MBP/MBL, biotinylated detection antibody and Avidin-HRP conjugate will appear blue in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of a sulphuric acid solution and the color turns yellow. The optical density (OD) is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450 nm +/- 2 nm. The OD value is proportional to the concentration of Human MBP/MBL. You can calculate the concentration of Human MBP/MBL in the samples by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes the soluble mannose-binding lectin or mannose-binding protein found in serum. The protein encoded belongs to the collectin family and is an important element in the innate immune system. The protein recognizes mannose and N-acetylglucosamine on many microorganisms, and is capable of activating the classical complement pathway. Deficiencies of this gene have been associated with susceptibility to autoimmune and infectious diseases. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

MBL2: Calcium-dependent lectin involved in innate immune defense. Binds mannose, fucose and N-acetylglucosamine on different microorganisms and activates the lectin complement pathway. Binds to late apoptotic cells, as well as to apoptotic blebs and to necrotic cells, but not to early apoptotic cells, facilitating their uptake by macrophages. May bind DNA.

Product Notes

The Human MBP/MBL mbl2 (Catalog #AAA2503403) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA2503403 ELISA Kit recognizes Human MBP/MBL. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MBP/MBL, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
