Principle of the Assay: This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Anti-A2M antibody was pre-coated onto 96-well plates. And the biotin conjugated anti-A2M antibody was used as detection antibodies. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently, and washed with wash buffer. HRP-Streptavidin was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the A2M amount of sample captured in plate. Read the O.D. absorbance at 450nm in a microplate reader, and then the concentration of A2M can be calculated.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes proteins related to the first discovered blood group system, ABO. Which allele is present in an individual determines the blood group. The 'O' blood group is caused by a deletion of guanine-258 near the N-terminus of the protein which results in a frameshift and translation of an almost entirely different protein. Individuals with the A, B, and AB alleles express glycosyltransferase activities that convert the H antigen into the A or B antigen. Other minor alleles have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ABO: This protein is the basis of the ABO blood group system. The histo-blood group ABO involves three carbohydrate antigens: A, B, and H. A, B, and AB individuals express a glycosyltransferase activity that converts the H antigen to the A antigen (by addition of UDP-GalNAc) or to the B antigen (by addition of UDP-Gal), whereas O individuals lack such activity. Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 6 family.

Protein type: Glycan Metabolism - glycosphingolipid biosynthesis - lacto and neolacto series; Membrane protein, integral; EC 2.4.1.37; Transferase; EC 2.4.1.40

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q34.2

Cellular Component: extracellular region; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: fucosylgalactoside 3-alpha-galactosyltransferase activity; glycoprotein-fucosylgalactoside alpha-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase activity; metal ion binding

Biological Process: protein amino acid glycosylation

Disease: Blood Group, Abo System

Product Notes

The Human ABO abo (Catalog #AAA762759) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA762759 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ABO. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Histo-blood group ABO system transferase, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
