Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (also known as Ep-CAM) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.
Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human Ep-CAM antibody. Ep-CAM present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human Ep-CAM Antibody is added and binds to Ep-CAM in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated Ep-CAM antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human Ep-CAM. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the CXC subfamily of chemokines. Chemokines, which recruit and activate leukocytes, are classified by function (inflammatory or homeostatic) or by structure. This protein is proposed to bind the G-protein coupled receptor chemokine (C-X-C motif) receptor 2 to recruit neutrophils, to promote angiogenesis and to remodel connective tissues. This protein is thought to play a role in cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. [provided by RefSeq, May 2013]
