Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of human Aspergillus Galactomannan (also known as GM) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principle of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with human GM antibody. GM present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated human GM Antibody is added and binds to GM in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated GM antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of human GM. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

The membrane-associated protein encoded by this gene is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intracellular membranes. ABC genes are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the ABC1 subfamily. Members of the ABC1 subfamily comprise the only major ABC subfamily found exclusively in multicellular eukaryotes. With cholesterol as its substrate, this protein functions as a cholesteral efflux pump in the cellular lipid removal pathway.
