Specificity
This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of ALDH1B1. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between ALDH1B1 and analogues was observed. NOTE: Limited by current skills and knowledge, it is impossible for us to complete the cross-reactivity detection between ALDH1B1 and all the analogues, therefore, cross reaction may still exist in some cases.

Intended Uses: This ALDH1B1 ELISA kit is a 1.5 hour solid-phase ELISA designed for the quantitative determination of Human ALDH1B1. This ELISA kit for research use only!

Principle of the Assay: ALDH1B1 ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing an anti-ALDH1B1 antibody and an ALDH1B1-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with ALDH1B1-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the ALDH1B1 concentration since ALDH1B1 from samples and ALDH1B1-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-ALDH1B1 antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by ALDH1B1 from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind ALDH1B1-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The ALDH1B1 concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

NCBI Description

This protein belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenases family of proteins. Aldehyde dehydrogenase is the second enzyme of the major oxidative pathway of alcohol metabolism. This gene does not contain introns in the coding sequence. The variation of this locus may affect the development of alcohol-related problems. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

ALDH1B1: ALDHs play a major role in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde. They are involved in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines, neurotransmitters, and lipid peroxidation. Belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family.

Product Notes

The Human ALDH1B1 aldh1b1 (Catalog #AAA7227449) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7227449 ELISA Kit recognizes Human ALDH1B1. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Aldehyde dehydrogenase X, mitochondrial (ALDH1B1), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
