Principle of the Assay: FAU ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a polyclonal anti-FAU antibody and an FAU-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with FAU-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the FAU concentration since FAU from samples and FAU-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-FAU antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by FAU from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind FAU-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The FAU concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
hybrid protein; encodes a ubiquitin-like protein and ribosomal S30 protein [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
UBIM: This gene is the cellular homolog of the fox sequence in the Finkel-Biskis-Reilly murine sarcoma virus (FBR-MuSV). It encodes a fusion protein consisting of the ubiquitin-like protein fubi at the N terminus and ribosomal protein S30 at the C terminus. It has been proposed that the fusion protein is post-translationally processed to generate free fubi and free ribosomal protein S30. Fubi is a member of the ubiquitin family, and ribosomal protein S30 belongs to the S30E family of ribosomal proteins. Whereas the function of fubi is currently unknown, ribosomal protein S30 is a component of the 40S subunit of the cytoplasmic ribosome. Pseudogenes derived from this gene are present in the genome. Similar to ribosomal protein S30, ribosomal proteins S27a and L40 are synthesized as fusion proteins with ubiquitin. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes
The Human FAU fau (Catalog #AAA7208032) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA7208032 ELISA Kit recognizes Human FAU. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "40S ribosomal protein S30 (FAU), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
