Biological Significance
vMIP-2 is a chemokine analog encoded by human herpes virus, and has been shown to have antagonist activity towards several chemokine receptors. Recombinant vMIP-2 is a 7.9 kDa protein consisting of 70 amino acids including the four highly conserved cysteine residues present in CC chemokines.
Bioactivity
Determined by the inhibitory effect on mon degree Cyte migration response to human MIP-1 alpha using a concentration range of 1.0ug-10.0ug/ml of viral MIP-2 will inhibit 25ng/ml of human MIP-1 alpha.
Endotoxin Levels
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per ug(1 EU/ug).
Expression System
E Coli
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C until reconstitution. Following reconstitution aliquot and freeze at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Uniprot Description

Blocks infection by several different human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) strains. This occurs because vMIP-II binds to a wide range of chemokine receptors. May form part of the response to host defenses contributing to virus-induced neoplasia and may have relevance to KSHV and HIV-I interactions.

Product Notes

The MIP2 orf k4 (Catalog #AAA539529) is an Active Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's MIP2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, User optimized. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the MIP2 orf k4 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Region of MIP2 protein correspond ing to amino acids LGASWHRPDK CCLGYQKRPL PQVLLSSWYP TSQLCSKPGV IFLTKRGRQV CADKSKDWVK KLMQQLPVTA. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "MIP2, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
