Recombinant
Biological Significance
Interleukin 3, also called Mast Cell Growth Factor, Multi-Colony Stimulating Factor, Eosinophil-CSF, is produced by activated T cells, mast cells and eosinophils. IL-3 is a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates colony formation of erythroid, megakaryocyte, neutrophil, eosinophil, basophil, mast cell and monocytic lineages. Most of these functions are enhanced or dependent on co-stimulation with other cytokines. Human and mouse IL-3 share only 29% sequence identity at the amino acid level. The bioactivity of IL-3 is highly species specific. Human IL-3 has no activity on mouse cells.
Bioactivity
The ED50 measured in a TF-1 proliferation assay is typically less than 0.15 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of greater than 7x10^6 Units/mg.
Endotoxin Levels
Less than 0.01 ng/ug cytokine as determined by the LAL assay.
Expression System
E Coli
Preparation and Storage
Store at -70 degree C or less.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a potent growth promoting cytokine. This cytokine is capable of supporting the proliferation of a broad range of hematopoietic cell types. It is involved in a variety of cell activities such as cell growth, differentiation and apoptosis. This cytokine has been shown to also possess neurotrophic activity, and it may be associated with neurologic disorders. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

IL3: Granulocyte/macrophage colony-stimulating factors are cytokines that act in hematopoiesis by controlling the production, differentiation, and function of 2 related white cell populations of the blood, the granulocytes and the monocytes-macrophages. Belongs to the IL-3 family.

Product Notes

The IL3 il3 (Catalog #AAA5304090) is an Active Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's IL3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). FC: 5 ul (0.125 ug)/test A test is defined as the amount (ug)/test of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 ul. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 10^5 to 10^8 cells/test. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the IL3 il3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "IL3, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
