Related Product Information for CHGA active protein
C-Kit is the receptor tyrosine kinase for stem cell factor (SCF) and is a member of the subfamily that includes PDGF, CSF-1 and FLT-3/flk-2 receptors (1,2). It plays critical controlling roles in a number of cell types such as hematopoietic stem cells, mast cells, melanocytes and germ cells (3). Upon binding with its ligand, c-Kit receptors are induced undergoing dimerization/ oligomerization and autophosphorylation. Activation of c-Kit results in the recruitment and tyrosine phosphorylation of downstream SH2-containing signaling components including PLCgamma, p85 subunit of PI3 kinase, SHP2 and CrkL (4), which links c-Kit directly to various cell signaling pathways. Molecular lesions that impair the kinase activity of c-Kit are associated with a variety of developmental disorders (5), while mutations that constitutively activate c-Kit can lead to pathogenesis of mastocytosis and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (6). Tyrosine 719 is located in the kinase insert region of the catalytic domain. c-Kit phosphorylated at Tyr719 binds to the p85 subunit of PI3 kinase in vitro and in vivo (7).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the chromogranin/secretogranin family of neuroendocrine secretory proteins. It is found in secretory vesicles of neurons and endocrine cells. This gene product is a precursor to three biologically active peptides; vasostatin, pancreastatin, and parastatin. These peptides act as autocrine or paracrine negative modulators of the neuroendocrine system. Other peptides, including chromostatin, beta-granin, WE-14 and GE-25, are also derived from the full-length protein. However, biological activities for these molecules have not been shown. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Function: Pancreastatin strongly inhibits glucose induced insulin release from the pancreas.

Subunit structure: Interacts with SCG3

By similarity.

Subcellular location: Cytoplasmic vesicle › secretory vesicle lumen

By similarity. Cytoplasmic vesicle › secretory vesicle membrane

By similarity. Secreted. Note: Associated with the secretory granule membrane through direct interaction to SCG3 that in turn binds to cholesterol-enriched lipid rafts in intragranular conditions

By similarity.

Post-translational modification: Sulfated on tyrosine residues and/or contains sulfated glycans.O-glycosylated with core 1 or possibly core 8 glycans. Ref.16 Ref.20

Miscellaneous: Binds calcium with a low-affinity.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the chromogranin/secretogranin protein family.

Product Notes

The CHGA chga (Catalog #AAA650873) is an Active Protein and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CD117, Recombinant, Human (c-kit, Stem Cell Factor, SCF Receptor, Steel Factor Receptor, Mast Cell Growth Factor, MGF) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. useful for the study of enzyme kinetics, screening inhibitors, and selectivity profiling. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CHGA chga for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "CD117, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
