Principle of the Assay: This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Antibody specific for BIP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any BIP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for BIP is added to the wells. After washing, avidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of BIP bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) family. It is localized in the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), and is involved in the folding and assembly of proteins in the ER. As this protein interacts with many ER proteins, it may play a key role in monitoring protein transport through the cell.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]

Uniprot Description

Function: Probably plays a role in facilitating the assembly of multimeric protein complexes inside the endoplasmic reticulum. Involved in the correct folding of proteins and degradation of misfolded proteins via its interaction with DNAJC10, probably to facilitate the release of DNAJC10 from its substrate.3 PublicationsManual assertion based on experiment in:Ref.12

Product Notes

The Human HSPA5 hspa5 (Catalog #AAA702067) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA702067 ELISA Kit recognizes Human HSPA5. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "heat shock 70kDa protein 5 (glucose-regulated protein, 78kDa), ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
