Preparation and Storage
Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the targetprotein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation andprecipitation were observed. (Referring from China Biological Products Standard, which was calculated by the Arrhenius equation.) The loss of this protein is lessthan 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This locus encodes a member of the nuclear, non-histone high mobility group protein family. This architectural transcription factor binds to A-T rich DNA sequences and participates in enhanceosome formation, chromatin remodeling and regulation of transcription. This protein functions in many cellular processes, including cell growth and differentiation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]

Uniprot Description

HMGA1: HMG-I/Y bind preferentially to the minor groove of A+T rich regions in double stranded DNA. It is suggested that these proteins could function in nucleosome phasing and in the 3'-end processing of mRNA transcripts. They are also involved in the transcription regulation of genes containing, or in close proximity to A+T-rich regions. A chromosomal aberration involving HMGA1 is found in pulmonary chondroid hamartoma. Translocation t(6;14)(p21;q23-24) with RAD51B. Belongs to the HMGA family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: DNA-binding

Cellular Component: focal adhesion; nucleus

Molecular Function: retinoid X receptor binding; peroxisome proliferator activated receptor binding; enzyme binding; DNA-(apurinic or apyrimidinic site) lyase activity; ligand-dependent nuclear receptor transcription coactivator activity; retinoic acid receptor binding; 5'-deoxyribose-5-phosphate lyase activity; transcription factor binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; base-excision repair; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; spermatogenesis; DNA catabolic process, endonucleolytic

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "High Mobility Group AT Hook Protein 1 (HMGA1), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
