Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and freeze at -70 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months.

Glycosylated recombinant ecto-domain of HSV-1 gD (amino acids 21-339 from KOS strain) representing the external domain of the gD molecule without membrane spanning and cytosolic sequences. It encodes a protein of approximately 30kD that contains 3 sites for glycosylation. Contains a 6-histidine fusion partner. The yeast system adds a mannose core oligosaccharide to N-linked motifs. Glycosylation is heterogeneous and results in several immunoreactive products greater than 40kD on Western Blots. The doublet band at approximately 28 and 30kD is not believed to be glycosylated.
