Related Product Information for BMPR1B active protein
Background: BMPR1B(bone morphogenetic protein receptor, type IB), also known as ALK6, is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) receptor family. BMPs are involved in endochondral bone formation and embryogenesis. These proteins transduce their signals through the formation of heteromeric complexes of 2 different types of serine (threonine) kinase receptors: type I receptors of about 50-55 kD and type II receptors of about 70-80 kD. Type II receptors bind ligands in the absence of type I receptors, but they require their respective type I receptors for signaling, whereas type I receptors require their respective type II receptors for ligand binding. BMPR1B is the major transducer of signals in precartilaginous condensations as demonstrated in experiments using constitutively active BMPR1B receptors. BMPR1B is a more effective transducer of GDF5 than BMPR1A. Unlike BMPR1A null mice, which die at an early embryonic stage, BMPR1B null mice are viable.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a serine/threonine kinase that functions as a receptor for bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs). The encoded protein is a type I receptor, and forms a complex of two type II and two type I receptors at the cell membrane. This complex signals downstream to activate SMAD transcriptional regulators. This signaling is important in skeletal and bone development. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2013]

Uniprot Description

Product Notes

The BMPR1B bmpr1b (Catalog #AAA8122453) is an Active Protein produced from HEK293 Cells and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Lys14-Lys1 26. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "BMPRIB, Active Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
