Purity/Purification
Lysate
Extracted from a pure H. pylori culture derived from one single H. pylori colony. Extraction from the whole H. pylori cells by a combination of detergent extraction and sonication. Detergent removed from final product.
Form/Format
Supplied as a lysate in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.1% sodium azide.
Applicable Applications for Helicobacter pylori infectious disease
ELISA (EL/EIA)
Application Notes
Suitable for use in ELISA.
Inactivation
H. pylori is oxygen sensitive. Exposure to air for more than one hour results in the loss of its viability. Extraction of the antigen takes 48-60 hours and H. pylori does not survive.
Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot. Freeze at -20 degree C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for Helicobacter pylori infectious disease
Helicobacter pylori is a spiral-shaped, Gram-negative rod approximately 0.5x3.0um in size. The catalase-positive organism has 4-6 sheathed flagella attached to one pole which allow for motility. Helicobacter pylori lives in the stomach and duodenum (section of intestine just below stomach). It has a unique way of adapting in the harsh environment of the stomach. The inside of the stomach is bathed in about half a gallon of gastric juice every day. Gastric juice is composed of digestive enzymes and concentrated hydrochloric acid, which can readily tear apart the toughest food or microorganism. Bacteria, viruses, and yesterdays steak dinner are all consumed in this deadly bath of chemicals. It used to be thought that the stomach contained no bacteria and was actually sterile, but Helicobacter pylori changed that. The stomach is protected from its own gastric juice by a thick layer of mucus that covers the stomach lining. Helicobacter pylori takes advantage of this protection by living in the mucus lining. Once H. pylori is safely ensconced in the mucus, it is able to fight the stomach acid that does reach it with an enzyme it possesses called urease. Urease converts urea, of which there is an abundant supply in the stomach (from saliva and gastric juices), into bicarbonate and ammonia, which are strong bases. This creates a cloud of acid neutralizing chemicals around the H. pylori, protecting it from the acid in the stomach. The reaction of urea hydrolysis is important for identification of H. pylori by the breath test.

Product Notes

The Helicobacter pylori (Catalog #AAA655307) is an Infectious Disease produced from H. pylori culture and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Helicobacter pylori can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA). Suitable for use in ELISA. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Helicobacter pylori for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Helicobacter pylori, Infectious Disease" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
