NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This intronless gene encodes a member of the SRY-related HMG-box (SOX) family of transcription factors involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of cell fate. The product of this gene is required for stem-cell maintenance in the central nervous system, and also regulates gene expression in the stomach. Mutations in this gene have been associated with optic nerve hypoplasia and with syndromic microphthalmia, a severe form of structural eye malformation. This gene lies within an intron of another gene called SOX2 overlapping transcript (SOX2OT). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Product Notes
The SOX2 sox2 (Catalog #AAA423840) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat Anti-SOX2 Antibody reacts with Human Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SOX2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), WB, Immunofluorescence (IF), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS). Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:32000 WB: Approx 37kDa band observed in nuclear lysates of cell line MCF7 and in lysates of Human glioblastoma cell line U251 (calculated MW of 34.3kDa according to)NP_003097.1). Recommended concentration: 0.1-0.3ug/ml. Primary incubation 1 hour at room temperature. IF: Strong expression of the protein seen in the nuclei of U251 cells. Recommended concentration: 10ug/ml. FC/FACS: Flow cytometric analysis of MCF7 cells. Recommended concentration: 10ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SOX2 sox2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SOX2, Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
