Uniprot Description

Catalyzes the last two sequential reactions in the de novo biosynthetic pathway for UDP-N-acetyl-glucosamine (UDP-GlcNAc). Responsible for the acetylation of GlcN-1-P to GlcNAc-1-P, and for the uridyl transfer from UTP to GlcNAc-1-P, to produce UDP-GlcNAc and pyrophosphate. Also catalyzes the reverse reaction, i.e. the cleavage of UDP-GlcNAc with pyrophosphate to form UTP and GlcNAc-1-P. To a lesser extent, is also able to use dUTP or dTTP as the nucleotide substrate, but not CTP, ATP or GTP.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Bifunctional protein GlmU (glmU), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
