Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate GHRP in samples. An antibody specific for GHRP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyGHRP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for GHRP is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of GHRP bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the G-protein coupled receptor family. The encoded protein may play a role in energy homeostasis and regulation of body weight. Two identified transcript variants are expressed in several tissues and are evolutionary conserved in fish and swine. One transcript, 1a, excises an intron and encodes the functional protein; this protein is the receptor for the Ghrelin ligand and defines a neuroendocrine pathway for growth hormone release. The second transcript (1b) retains the intron and does not function as a receptor for Ghrelin; however, it may function to attenuate activity of isoform 1a. Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal idiopathic short stature.[provided by RefSeq, Apr 2010]

Uniprot Description

GHSR: Receptor for ghrelin, coupled to G-alpha-11 proteins. Stimulates growth hormone secretion. Binds also other growth hormone releasing peptides (GHRP) (e.g. Met-enkephalin and GHRP-6) as well as non-peptide, low molecular weight secretagogues (e.g. L-692,429, MK-0677, adenosine). Defects in GHSR may be a cause of idiopathic short stature autosomal (ISSA). Short stature is defined by a subnormal rate of growth. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Rabbit GHRP ghsr (Catalog #AAA283763) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA283763 ELISA Kit recognizes Rabbit GHRP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
