Preparation and Storage
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Store at 2-8 degree C for one month. Aliquot and store at -80 degree C for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the targetprotein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation andprecipitation were observed. The loss of this protein is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

NCBI Description

This gene catalyzes the hydrolysis of folylpoly-gamma-glutamates and antifolylpoly-gamma-glutamates by the removal of gamma-linked polyglutamates and glutamate. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

GGH: Hydrolyzes the polyglutamate sidechains of pteroylpolyglutamates. Progressively removes gamma-glutamyl residues from pteroylpoly-gamma-glutamate to yield pteroyl-alpha- glutamate (folic acid) and free glutamate. May play an important role in the bioavailability of dietary pteroylpolyglutamates and in the metabolism of pteroylpolyglutamates and antifolates. Belongs to the peptidase C26 family.

Protein type: Secreted; EC 3.4.19.9; Secreted, signal peptide; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - folate biosynthesis; Protease

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8q12.3

Cellular Component: extracellular space; lysosome; melanosome; nucleus; cytosol

Molecular Function: omega peptidase activity; exopeptidase activity

Biological Process: response to drug; response to ethanol; response to zinc ion; glutamine metabolic process; proteolysis; response to insulin stimulus

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Gamma-Glutamyl Hydrolase, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
