NCBI Description

This gene encodes an enzyme belonging to the glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit family. These enzymes are part of a multicomponent integral membrane system that catalyzes the hydrolysis of glucose-6-phosphate, the terminal step in gluconeogenic and glycogenolytic pathways, allowing the release of glucose into the bloodstream. The family member encoded by this gene is found in pancreatic islets and does not exhibit phosphohydrolase activity, but it is a major target of cell-mediated autoimmunity in diabetes. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described, but their biological validity has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

G6PC2: May hydrolyze glucose-6-phosphate to glucose in the endoplasmic reticulum. May be responsible for glucose production through glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Belongs to the glucose-6-phosphatase family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The Human G6PC2 g6pc2 (Catalog #AAA9332546) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA9332546 ELISA Kit recognizes Human G6PC2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "glucose-6-phosphatase, catalytic, 2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
