Biological Significance
Fgr is a protooncogene that is a unique member of the tyrosine kinase gene family. It is localized to the distal portion of the short arm of human chromosome 1 at p36.1-36.2 by in situ hybridization. Certain lymphomas express fgr-related messenger RNA. This transcript is detected in Burkitt's lymphoma cell lines naturally infected with Epstein-Barr virus, but not in EBV-negative Burkitt's lymphoma cells. Normal umbilical cord or peripheral blood lymphocyte lines established in vitro by EBV infection also contain detectable c-fgr mRNA. Moreover, a 50-fold increase of the steady-state c-fgr mRNA concentration is observed when uninfected Burkitt's lymphoma cell lines are deliberately infected with EBV demonstrating the induction of a proto-oncogene in response to infection by a DNA tumour virus.

Sf-9 insect cells

NCBI Description

phosphorylates phospholipase D2 (PLD2); plays a role in mast cell activation [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

FGR: a non-receptor tyrosine kinase of the Src family. Contains one SH2 and one SH3 domain. Beta 2 integrin signaling induces its c-Cbl-mediated ubiquitination in adherent neutrophils. An ortholog of v-fgr feline oncogene. Mildly amplified in hormone-resistant prostate cancer. Copy number either increased or decreased in other cancers.

Product Notes

The FGR fgr (Catalog #AAA5304538) is a Recombinant Protein produced from Human and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "FGR, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
