Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the targetprotein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37 degree C for 48h, and no obvious degradation andprecipitation were observed. (Referring from China Biological Products Standard, which was calculated by the Arrhenius equation.) The loss of this protein is lessthan 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
catalyzes the conversion of trans-farnesyl diphosphate to squalene; plays a role in biosynthesis of cholesterol and of isoprenoids [RGD, Feb 2006]
Uniprot Description
Function: Critical branch point enzyme of isoprenoid biosynthesis that is thought to regulate the flux of isoprene intermediates through the sterol pathway.
Catalytic activity: 2 farnesyl diphosphate + NAD(P)H = squalene + 2 diphosphate + NAD(P)+.
Cofactor: Magnesium.
Pathway: Terpene metabolism; lanosterol biosynthesis; lanosterol from farnesyl diphosphate: step 1/3.
Subcellular location: Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein Ref.4.
Disruption phenotype: Hypomorphic mutations in the Lss gene and in this gene were identified, as well as a null mutation in the Lss gene. Cataract onset is associated with the specific combination of Lss and Fdft1 mutant alleles that decrease cholesterol levels in cataractous lenses to about 57% of normal. Cholesterol insufficiency may cause the deficient proliferation of lens epithelial cells in Shumiya cataract rats, resulting in the loss of homeostatic epithelial cell control of the underlying fiber cells and ultimately cataractogenesis. Ref.5
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the phytoene/squalene synthase family.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Farnesyl Diphosphate Farnesyltransferase 1 (FDFT1), Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
