Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate F8A1 in samples. An antibody specific for F8A1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyF8A1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for F8A1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of F8A1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene is part of a region that is repeated three times on chromosome X, once in intron 22 of the F8 gene and twice closer to the Xq telomere. This record represents the middle copy. Although its function is unknown, the observation that this gene is conserved in the mouse implies it has some function.
