Ordering
For Research Use Only!
Host
E Coli
Purity/Purification
>95%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Form/Format
Lyophilized from 25mM Tris-Hcl pH 7.2, 1mM EDTA and 50% glycerol.
Sequence Length
176
Application Notes
Recombinant human EBV p18 antigen is suitable for ELISA and Western blots, excellent antigen for detection of EBV with minimal specificity problems.
Host Note
DNA sequence encoding immunodominant fragment of Epstein-Barr Virus capsid BFRF3 protein expressed in Escherichia Coli.
Reconstitution
A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Molecular Weight Note
Recombinant EBV p18 encodes the immunodominant sequences of theEpstein-Barr Virus capsid p18 protein. This molecule has a calculated mass of approximately 13kDa.

Recombinant EBV p18 contains an N terminal GST purification tag and migrates as an approximately 39 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.
Preparation and Storage
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt at -20 degree C.
Upon reconstitution, this protein can be stored in working aliquots at 2 degree - 8 degree C for one month, or at -20 degree C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity.

Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Related Product Information for EBV BFRF3 recombinant protein
There are 11 known antigenically distinct glycoproteins in herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) virions: gB, gC, gD, gE, gG, gI, gH, gJ, gK, gL, and gM. These glycoproteins are the primary inducers and targets of humoral immune responses in HSV infection and are also important inducers and targets of cell-mediated immune responses. In addition, some of the HSV glycoproteins have been shown to interact with specific components of the immune system. Most immunological and vaccine studies of the HSV-1 glycoproteins have focused on gD and/or gB. This is at least partially due to the fact that these are the most abundant HSV glycoproteins and therefore were the first two glycoproteins to be expressed and to be shown to provide protection against HSV infection in animal models.

Product Notes

The EBV BFRF3 (Catalog #AAA553126) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. Recombinant human EBV p18 antigen is suitable for ELISA and Western blots, excellent antigen for detection of EBV with minimal specificity problems. . Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the EBV BFRF3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Epstein-Barr Virus Capsid Antigen BFRF3, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
