Principle of the Assay: The MBS Parainfluenza 1/2/3 IgM antibody test kit is based on the principle of the enzyme immunoassay (EIA). Parainfluenza 1/2/3 antigen is bound on the surface of the microtiter strips. Diluted unknowns are pipetted into the wells of the microtiter plate. A binding between the IgM antibodies of the serum and the immobilized Parainfluenza 1/2/3 antigen takes place. After a one hour incubation at room temperature, the plate is rinsed with diluted wash solution, in order to remove unbound material. Then readyto-use anti-human-IgM peroxidase conjugate is added and incubated for 30 minutes. After a further washing step, the substrate (TMB) solution is pipetted and incubated for 20 minutes, inducing the development of a blue dye in the wells. The color development is terminated by the addition of a stop solution, which changes the color from blue to yellow. The resulting dye is measured spectrophotometrically at the wavelength of 450 nm. NOTE that unknowns containing abnormally elevated levels of anti-human IgG antibodies may cause inaccurate results in this assay. Any unknowns showing elevated results should be pre-diluted with IgG adsorbent and re-tested to confirm elevated levels of IgM.

This gene encodes a steroid binding protein that was first described as a plasma protein secreted by the liver but is now thought to participate in the regulation of steroid responses. The encoded protein transports androgens and estrogens in the blood, binding each steroid molecule as a dimer formed from identical or nearly identical monomers. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with polycystic ovary syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
